Tradition Meets Innovation: Harnessing Time-Honored Methods with Modern Science
At the Connecticut Center for Integrative Medicine, we help Stamford, Connecticut, area patients feel their best by integrating naturopathic and holistic healthcare solutions. While traditional and conventional medicine have their place, they are not always the only way to reach goals for better health and well-being. One solution that can be integrated into traditional medicine is acupuncture.
What is acupuncture?
Our team best describes acupuncture as an ancient Chinese practice that requires the insertion of extremely small, thin needles into specific points on the body to stimulate and balance the natural flow of energy. This energy, referred to by the Chinese as Qi, is believed to flow through certain pathways called meridians in the body. When these pathways are blocked or imbalanced, they can lead to pain or illness. This method has been used for thousands of years in the treatment of a variety of conditions, including:
- Hormonal imbalances
- Digestive problems
- Insomnia and other sleep disorders/challenges
- Depression and anxiety
- Poorly managed negative stress (distress)
- Chronic pain
At the same time, acupuncture can:
- Increase “feel-good” endorphins
- Boost circulation
- Reduce inflammation
- Calm the nervous system
How often do I need acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a process that consists of multiple treatment appointments. Your specific requirements dictate the count of these sessions and how your body reacts to this and other forms of treatment. Generally, the commencement of therapy takes place once or twice per week. Following this “intensive” phase, it may be necessary to receive maintenance sessions every one to three months.
What is the process of acupuncture?
Every procedure incorporates the implementation of hygienic, single-use slender needles at meticulously chosen bodily points. This method is drawn from a thorough analysis of various factors, including your medical background, laboratory results, and pulse and tongue diagnosis. It’s noteworthy that some individuals report improvements right after the first procedure! While we stress this, our team respects and appreciates your unique biological makeup, experiences, and current situations. The path to improved comprehensive wellness is an expedition, and acupuncture may significantly impact your healing journey.

Dr. Robert Kachko discusses acupuncture treatments at CT Center For Integrative Medicine
What is acupuncture?
Hi, this is Dr. Robert Kachko to talk to you all about acupuncture.
We use acupuncture as one of the many tools in our clinic to give you a truly comprehensive and holistic approach to feeling better.
Acupuncture is a tool that’s been around for thousands of years, and it’s helped generations of people recover from conditions like pain, digestive disorders, insomnia, anxiety, and depression.
What are the benefits of acupuncture?
Acupuncture has been shown to reduce inflammation, improve circulation, calm the nervous system, and increase endorphins, our body’s natural system of painkillers.
The treatments themselves last about one hour, where you come in, and we have a conversation about your health goals.
The treatments are painless, and most people feel quite relaxed. Many people fall asleep, and sleeping on an acupuncture table is like getting 2-3 hours of extra rest, even in that 30 or 40 minutes of treatment.
What is the process of getting acupuncture as a treatment?
The needles that we use are sterile, and we only use them one time before throwing them away. Although treatment results vary, most people do see an improvement in their condition.
Usually, it takes about six to 10 treatments, often done weekly, to see if your condition will improve. Now while some people feel better after just one treatment for others, it is a process.
We combine acupuncture with all of the other treatment tools in our clinic, including nutrition IV therapy, mind-body medicine, botanical medicine.
So if you’re interested in trying acupuncture, you might want to consider trying acupuncture in this comprehensive way where you’re also getting all of the other care you’re looking for.
We are here to help you with all of your health care needs. Make an appointment today.
