At the Connecticut Center for Integrative Medicine, we stay true to our name by practicing integrative medicine. We also operate as a holistic medical clinic. These two approaches complement each other, enabling our naturopathic providers to serve the community effectively in Stamford and the surrounding areas of Fairfield and Westchester counties.
We describe holistic medicine as “whole-person” care. This approach accounts for all aspects of your life and who you are as a person. With this broad understanding, we can best identify and resolve your needs at the source. By focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of underlying causes of conditions rather than relieving the symptoms of these conditions, we also support your overall health and well-being—in body, mind, and spirit.
Integrative medicine refers to the methodologies or ways that we resolve the underlying causes of symptoms or problems and treat conditions. We do not limit ourselves to conventional medicine, such as prescription medications. We see this as but one option and personalize treatment to the individual by combining conventional medicine with traditional therapies, mind-body techniques, botanical medicine/nutraceuticals, and more.
Our team prioritizes diagnostics, testing, and assessments. We do not rush the process of getting to know you and your needs. This approach is demonstrated at the very start of your journey to healing and better health. We begin with an initial 90-minute consult. Our array of medical reviews, exams, functional and lab testing, and more is all about getting big-picture insights into your overall health and well-being and who you are. Each of our patients brings a unique biology, biography, and ecology. It is important for us to get to know each of these aspects of your identity so we can develop an effective plan that honors, celebrates, and addresses these areas.
Think of each of these areas as overlapping circles. Each of these aspects of your identity affects and is affected by the other. They are all interconnected. Our initial visit and other tests that may be ordered leave no stone unturned when it comes to investigating your one-of-a-kind:
With an understanding of your “whole person,” we can recommend appropriate guidance, services, and treatments that target any needs that may have been uncovered during testing and assessments. We may start with conventional medicine, such as pharmacological treatments. Once we get symptoms under control, we may incorporate traditional healing practices like acupuncture. Most everyone can benefit from our nutritional expertise, including powerful and personalized nutraceuticals and botanical medicine. We may also recommend mind-body medicine (such as biofeedback) to aid in processing past events and trauma.
It can be difficult to speak so broadly about the services that may be best for you since we focus on the personal approach and celebrating and honoring your unique self, story, and environment. Following an initial consult, you will be one step closer to feeling better, free of chronic or distressing symptoms, and achieving whole-body health.
